        Romania was and still is privileged by its geographical position and the direct access to the Black Sea and to the Danube.
        The "Silk Way"  which is facilitating transport connections among Europe, Caucasus, Central Asia and the Middle East represents a profitable project for us.
       The crowded European harbors of the last period of time, as well as the perspectives of the growth of commercial exchange between the European countries and the countries of Asia impose more and more the rebuilding of the Southern Routes of "The Silk Way". The achievement of the new continental bridge Euro-Asia aims the connection of the Lianyun port and other ports of the Eastern Coast of China on the railway route Longhai-Lauxin, The Pass of Alta, the countries of the Central Asia (Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan), the Caucasian countries of South-Eastern Europe and then with Western Europe up to Rotterdam port (Holland).
       This can be made by three routes:

·  The first: through Kazakhstan - Uzbekistan - Turkmenistan - Iran - Turkey and then Europe;

·  The second: through Kazakhstan - Uzbekistan - Turkmenistan - The Caspian Sea - Azerbaijan - Georgia - The Black Sea - Romania (Bulgaria, Ukraine) and then to the Western and Northern Europe;

·  The third: through Kazakhstan to the North across the Russian Federation (Moscow) and then to the Western Europe.

        Also, three of the pan-European corridors are crossing our country:
Corridor IV Constantza - Bucharest - Arad - Budapest - Bratislava - Prague - Dresden,

Corridor VII Contantza - The Danube - Black Sea Canal - The Danube - Main - Rhine (Rotterdam Port-Holland)

Corridor IX Constantza - Bucharest - Iasi - Chisinau - Kiew - Petersburg - Helsinki.

        The Port of Constantza toghether with its extension Constantza Sud is the largest commercial port at the Black Sea. Ships with a maximum displacement of 200,000 tdw can anchor here. There are the following terminals:

·  The RO-RO terminal allowing the operation of 30,000 roadtrains TIR/year;

·  The ferry - boat terminal;

·  The terminal for trans containers allowing the operation of about 70,000 trans containers of 20-40 feet/year. Soon in the same terminal swap bodies and semi-trailers will be operated.
There will be put into operation the RO-LA terminal for the loading-unloading of TIR road trains on and off specialized wagons (that are being built) to be transported to the West and North Part of Europe on the CFR network.
